London – October 17, 2008
Blurb, the creative book publishing platform, has teamed up with AxiCom Cohn & Wolfe to handle its PR programmes in the UK and Europe, following a competitive pitch.
Blurb is an exciting, fast-growing Internet company that is disrupting the face of book publishing. Blurb introduced its free BookSmart software in May of 2006, enjoyed a breakout year in 2007 with nearly $10M in revenue and over 90,000 titles published, and is now profitable in 2008. AxiCom will create and implement campaigns to boost market awareness of Blurb in Europe, and increase traffic to www.blurb.com, where creative professionals and consumers can design, publish, share, and sell their own bookshop-quality books.
Blurb selected AxiCom based on its understanding of the company’s values and an approach that included a strong focus on social media and non-traditional PR. This was reinforced by the team’s enthusiasm for the company’s creative publishing concept. Work begins immediately on the account which will be led by Kate Stevens, associate director, consumer technology.
Mike Barash, director of marketing for Blurb said “Our goal is to increase brand awareness and drive revenue from European customers, and AxiCom offers us reach across Europe as well as a team that can communicate with both consumer and professional audiences.”
“Blurb’s creative publishing service helps everyone put their best work into a real book, and as such they are a company we admire and a fantastic win for AxiCom’s consumer technology practice. Their creative and inspiring culture, very much mirrors the values we champion at AxiCom. Working with Blurb on its next phase of development and growth in the UK and Europe will be both a demanding and rewarding task,” said Helen Ridgway, managing director, AxiCom. |
